Alternate years. This course introduces Hindu religious traditions by examining Hindu mythology, philosophy and society from its beginning to the present. Topics will include the law of karma, class structure, dharma, yoga, devotional traditions, liberation, modern reform movements and Hindu mythology as presented in its sacred texts, including the Vedic hymns, Upanishads, and Bhagavad-Gita. Prerequisite: one religion course and sophomore or higher status.
