CAS 282 - Film and Cultures II (4) SP. A study of the development of film from 1960 to the present, considering film as an art form in the context of culture, technology, and economics. Topics include the European art cinema, the “New Hollywood,” the development of the blockbuster, creative and economic influences on cinema outside the United States, the most important films, directors, and movements in film, and the impact of developing digital technologies on cinematic art. A weekly screening lab is mandatory.
