Admission (Graduate)

Admission Standards

Applicants for graduate study must obtain a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution before commencing their degree. Additional academic requirements vary by program.

Awaiting-Materials Admission

Awaiting-materials admission is offered to graduate students, who at the time of admission, have submitted all other required admission documents and unofficial transcripts and meet all admission requirements, but are awaiting degree conferral or official transcripts from other colleges and universities. These admitted students must submit official transcripts or evaluations verifying degree conferral prior to the 100% refund deadline for the first course they are enrolled in at Calvin University. If Calvin University does not receive official transcripts or evaluations verifying degree conferral by that date, the student may be withdrawn from the course and may defer to the following term. Students who are awaiting materials are not eligible to register beyond the term into which they have been admitted.

English-Language Proficiency Requirements

The following are Calvin’s guidelines for scores:

  • Paper-based TOEFL: 600
  • Computerized TOEFL: 250
  • Internet-based TOEFL: 100
  • IELTS: 7.0
  • Duolingo: 125

The TOEFL code for Calvin University is #1095.

Typically, if a student has completed an undergraduate degree in the United States or Canada, the English requirement for a graduate program is satisfied. If an applicant has an undergraduate degree from a school outside of the United States or Canada, then an English test (or equivalent) is required.
