The Asian studies major is designed for students developing a strong background in Asian languages and historical, cultural, and ideological understandings of Asian countries as preparation for various professions, including international development, business, education, and missions. Beyond exploring the philosophy, religion, art, and history of Asian cultures and nations in classrooms, majors have opportunities to take a summer and semester program in Taiwan, Japan, or Korea, and summer off-campus programs in India, Nepal, Thailand, the Philippines, or Cambodia. The Asian studies program is structured to fit nicely alongside other majors and minors for enhancing thoughtful engagement with the diverse peoples and cultures of Asia.
